Signature Artists is a group of active visual artists located in southwest Michigan. Signature meets in members’ homes, studios or other locations where we participate in monthly programs, and share our artistic knowledge and experiences. To keep these meetings lively and interactive, Signature membership is kept to about 30 artists.
Overview
Signature is currently accepting new member applications. Deadline is June 5, 2023. Applications must be complete to be considered for membership. We are looking for artists that will add novel and new approaches to our group. Look at our artists’ work on our website and see if your work is distinct from current members’ art. This application processs is open to all visual media. The jurying process is described below.

Materials Check List for Signature Application:
- Complete Contact Information (name, address, phone, email)
- You must include at least one of these in your application documents: your artist resume, bio, curriculum vitae and/or artist statement.
Either copy and paste the text into your email, or attach a .pdf, MS Word .doc or .docx file or .pages file. Other file types are not supported. - 5-10 jpeg images of current work (produced within the last three years)
Each jpeg should be no larger than 1-2 MB each in size. Maximum of 2500 pixels on the longest side. - OPTIONAL: If you have one or more of the following, please include: links to your web site, online gallery, Facebook Page, etc.
Calendar
STEP ONE: All images and text files must be received no later than June 5, 2023 and will be previewed by the Signature Membership. The initial jury will consider the quality of work, adding diversity in media to Signature, and the applicant’s ability to participate as an active group member throughout the year.
STEP TWO: If you pass this initial jury process, you will be invited to come to our July 2023 membership interview and review meeting for the second step in our membership process, and meet current Signature members. The time and location for this meeting will be emailed to you. You will be asked to bring in samples of your current work. After a brief interview, Signature members hold a private discussion and vote. Applicants will be promptly informed of the results.
New members will be invited to the August 2023 Signature Meeting.
Membership fees:
A one-time initiation fee of $50 is required after acceptance.
An annual fee of $75 is due in April of every year.
Total first year fees are $125.
