About Susan Carroll Rumsey
Susan Carroll Rumsey cuts up and tears apart her paintings on paper. Using these paper parts in combination with metal and wood, she investigates various building and connecting processes producing mixed-media 2D wall pieces and 3D sculptural vessel forms.
“These forming processes grow from my observations of an inherent land-shift constant. The land moves…and I am moved. I respond to the ever changing layers and contours of the land with wonder and excitement, saturated with a profusion of new ideas to explore using mixed-media”.
Susan Rumsey is a past recipient of a grant awarded by the Kalamazoo Artist Development Initiative through the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, Michigan. A member of the Signature Artist Cooperative in Kalamazoo, Michigan for many years, Rumsey’s work continues to be seen at Signature venues. She has shown her work in group and solo exhibitions, and in juried competitions throughout the Midwest.
