Fires Around the Lake – glass invitational

July 12- August 22 – Gloria Badiner will participate in the “Fires Around the Lake” glass invitational at Bonifas Fine Art Gallery in Escanaba. Artist reception July 18th from 7 – 9 p.m.

Artist Statement for Gloria Badiner:
The marketing of Ethanol as a fuel source has led to radical changes in life on the rural Midwest prairie. Speculation of pricing and land use has transformed the way we both produce our foodstuffs and use the products. When every square inch of land becomes a monetary asset for production, natural hedge rows, buffers and drainage ponds are augmented for production. The diversion from food production to fuel has consequences not only for land use but has added poisons to our foods and increased hunger in America.
